Women's Health Webinar Series 1 -   Endocrine System:  Overview and Repair

Our endocrine system controls all of our metabolic and hormonal function. Endocrine disruption can appear in almost any body system and has a strong effect on how we feel, think and function in our waking activity as well as sleep.   The endocrine system can be disrupted by environmental toxins and allopathic medications such as steroids and contraceptives, as well as various disease processes. 

 

In this class, we will cover the basics of endocrine function, indicators of disruption, and strategies for repair as an adjunct to constitutional care, using homeopathic imponderables and  sarcodes from the endocrine glands. We will use case examples showing strategies and results for issues in reproductive health that include common female complaints such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, menstrual irregularity / absence / flooding, and menopausal hot flashes.

Women's Health Webinar Series 2 - Sexual Interview Skills for Homeopaths

Most of our clients are women; sexual history is often relevant for reproductive system complaints. Appropriate interview and counseling techniques for sexual history / issues is beyond foundational training, so many practitioners have not developed these skills. Karen Allen has teamed with Dr. Heather Howard, a clinical sexologist, to prepare this 4 week course for homeopaths. 

Week 1 focuses on sexual anatomy and physiology as well as normal sexuality and basics of sexually transmitted illnesses. Sexual spectrum educationis introduced to give context to the practitioner who will be better informed to evaluate what is individualizing vs. common in a case. 

Week 2 continues sexual spectrum education, teaches the sexual interview, including indicators to inquire further (distress, disembodiment, shame). 

Week 3 continues with sexual counseling skills with a clear model for working with issues, including criteria for referral to a sexologist.

Week 4 finishes the series with an overview of common sexual issues (trauma, gender orientation, low sexual desire) with suggestions on how to address them.

Therapeutic Focus: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Continuing with the endocrine system basics reviewed in the July class, this day long focus class reviews PCOS as an endocrine disorder, even though our clients will often present it to us as an ovarian / fertility issue. This illness is an indicator of presence of the cancer miasm in the case, and resolution must address the miasm as well as endocrine disruption. Learn typical signs and symptoms of PCOS with individualizing indicators, likely remedies, posology strategies, and useful adjuncts. Using case examples to demonstrate use of the theoretical material provided, students will be well-prepared to assist clients who have been diagnosed with PCOS.

Therapeutic Focus: Cervical Dysplasia

From the first abnormal pap smear result through the stages of cervical cancer, this day long focus class covers cervical disorder commonly presented by clients. This illness is an indicator of presence of the cancer miasm in the case, often following an earlier finding of HPV. Again, the resolution must address the miasm as well as the local organic tissue change. Following Dr. Ramakrishnan`s directive that constitutional remedies are often not effective in serious lesional therapeutics, we will look at specific strategies for the lesional complaint. Learn typical signs and symptoms of cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer with individualizing indicators, important warning signs, likely remedies, posology strategies, and useful adjuncts. Case examples will illustrate the material presented.

Therapeutic Focus: Chlamydia as a Disease, Remedy and Miasm 

This remedy is the quiet cousin of medorrhinum, little known and incredibly useful. While incidence of gonorrhea has been dropping for decades, incidence of chlamydia has been increasing substantially. This class reviews chlamydia  as a disease with relevant (and remarkable) statistical information, common signs and symptoms, as well as its signature as a homeopathic remedy and a miasm.  Chlamydia is one of the most common factors in infertility and chronic  pelvic disease.  Learnto recognize the pattern of the disease, remedy and miasm through information and case examples in this day long class.

Therapeutic Focus: Sycosis Nosodes 

Foundational homeopathic classes teach medorrhinum as the nosode for sycosis, but that is just the starting point. Learn the indicators of the other sycotic nosodes: trichomonas, staphylococcus, streptococcus, and chlamydia. In this 1 day focus class we will review the central themes of sycosis, and see the variation of how those present in the provings, typical pathology and casework for each of these nosodes.

Organ Therapeutics: Working with the Triad of Thyroid / Liver / Uterus 

Following a basic introduction in James Compton Burnett`s approach to using homeopathic remedies in low potency to strengthen specific organs and organ systems, this day long class will focus on the inter-related trio of the thyroid, liver and uterus. This trio is often disrupted in women`s health, and disturbance in any member of the trio often presages disturbance to the other two. We will learn the specific therapeutics for each organ, and use case examples to show the inter-relationships and therapeutic strategies.

Learn how these organs support each other, indicators of disruption and methods for repair illustrated by case examples.
