Pacific Academy of Homeopathy update

A message from Richard Pitt...   Dear PAH friends and alumni:   As most of you know, the Academy has been in a state of transition in the last year, and the board of directors has been looking for ideas and directions for its future. After some discussion with the board in recent weeks, I have decided I would be interested to get involved again, at least temporarily, to see if a new vision could be found for the Academy that would allow it to be a continued homeopathic presence in the Bay Area, supporting homeopathic education in various ways.  The board has accepted my proposal to become Interim Director and to work voluntarily to help direct the Academy into a new direction and to see what can be done.  I am aware that running any kind of non-profit institution, especially in today's economic climate, is a challenge. However, I felt that if we can re-envision a role for the Pacific Academy as a voice for homeopathy in the Bay Area, it is worth having a go.    An van de Moortel and Pam Grant-Ryan of the exiting board have decided to continue to serve, while Beth Murray and Myra Nissen have decided to resign after faithful service.  My thanks go to all of them for keeping the Academy going in the last year and to everybody else who has given so much to make the Academy such a vital organization over the years. Three board members from previous years have agreed to come back to the board for a limited period: Dino Lucas and Lisa Kellman, who run the Scarlet Sage store on Valencia St, and Heidi Hill, who runs Holistic Hound in Berkeley. We are happy to consider other board members as well and are considering creating an advisory board to give further support.    In terms of what the Academy can offer right now, there is not an intention to begin a new 2-3 year professional training program. There are other schools offering this type of education and there is also not the energy or the initiative to take on such a challenge. As of now, the Academy is focusing on offering a series of seminars, talks and workshops for 2011 and 2012. If the Academy can function to support homeopathic students and practitioners by offering continuing education opportunities, then this is a good contribution. Also if we can continue to support Alumni of the Academy in any way and also be a voice of homeopathy within the wider Bay Area community, offering our services to do talks, be on panels and generally liaise with the public, then the Pacific Academy will be performing a useful service.    We are interested in getting your feedback, opinions and ideas for the future of the Academy, as this institution belongs to everybody who has participated in it through the years.  So please be in touch with us. We are working on a new website and we still have our phone number at 415-695-2710. We also have a new email address at homacademy@gmail.com or simply respond to my email at richardwpitt@gmail.com.    Also, I am sending this note to as many alumni as I have on my list. I realize that some people will be missing from it and so if you know of anyone who may not have received this, please do pass it on.    The first seminar to be offered by the reconstituted Pacific Academy will feature the important work of  Peter Tumminello, a very experienced homeopath and author from Sydney, Australia, on Saturday August 13th, 9.30 am-5 pm at the California Pacific Medical Center, Pacific Campus, 2333 Buchanan St, Enright Room. Please read Peter's bio and the details of his seminar below. This is his first time to speak in the Bay Area and it is a great opportunity to come and see him talk. Also, we will be having a social gathering after the event at a local restaurant, to welcome him to San Francisco and to have a chance to come together again.  The fee for the day is $95 for practitioners and $75 for students and PAH Alumni. Soon after, he was intuitively led to prove a series of remedies made from the precious and semi-precious gems and crystals. After exhaustive provings and applying them in his clinic over 11 years, he produced his definitive work on gems"Twelve Jewels'.  Peter will share his vast clinical and practical experiences with the gems. He will elucidate his understanding of the gems as a family and their classic characteristics. He has experimented and had clinical success with Ruby, Sapphire, Pearl, Emerald, Diamond (differing from Adamas), Black opal, Gold Topaz, Amethyst, Quartz, Morion, Rhodonite and Lapis lazuli amongst many others.  Color: Peter noted that color choice was often a prime indication need for a particular gem.
