Organ Therapeutics: Using Homeopathy and Herbs to Strengthen the Weak Link Karen Allen, CCH
Location: CPMC Pacific Heights Campus, Cafeteria Level Classroom A
|
Rademacher, Hughes, Burnett, and Boericke on Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen, Kidneys, Bladder, Lungs, Heart,
Stomach, Uterus, Ovaries, Prostate
The predominant style of homeopathic practice in North America is
the single constitutional simillimum. This is a great strategy when the constitutional can be found and
can act; it has it's limitations when the action of the vital force is constrained by factors such as toxic
body burden, organs weakened by disease
or injury, miasma, or coercive effects of allopathic
medication. Our clients can only
become as well as their weakest bodily link will allow, and so we can serve clients
best when we learn to strengthen the constraining organ or body system thus allowing the vital force
full influence within the organism to heal.
In Europe and South America, this approach of using therapeutics
to target an organ is widely used. This work was pioneered by Rademacher in Germany, expanded by
Hughes and Burnett in England, and taught at the homeopathic school here in San Francisco by
Boericke. Following Kent and
Lippe,
this approach fell out of popularity as constitutional prescribing
became the standard within classical homeopathy in the US, but that was
not the case elsewhere. You have the opportunity now to learn what is
widely taught to your colleagues in England and
Europe! Organ therapeutics are a
powerful
adjunct to constitutional care and can make an enormous difference
in the health of your clients.
Join us for a one day class by Karen Allen, CCH to learn
everything you need to immediately begin to recognize how each organ shows its disturbance in the
client's symptomatology, and to use low potency remedies and common herbs to nourish the organ to
health. This approach will help
you with clients who are improving overall but seeing no relief in their specific complaints, or
finding little
progress in cases of 'never well since' an injury to an organ or
organ system, or having aggravation in a particular body system regardless of the remedy given.
We will review each of the major organs, showing indicators of
disturbance on physical particular, general and mental symptoms, as
well as miasmatic affinities. For each organ, simple organ
therapeutics that can be used in conjunction with the constitutional
remedy
will be reviewed, along with suggestions for potency, dosage and
repetition. Cases will be presented to show application of the
concepts
taught
and allow you to practice what you are learning. This will be a
full day of important information that can really make a difference for your clients - don't miss it!

Four Day Seminar on Midwifery and Homeopathy
MJ Hanafin, RN, CNM, NP, DHOM
Location: CPMC, California Campus (Friday) CPMC, Pacific Heights Campus (Sat-Sun) (Rooms and Thursday location TBA)
|
Pacific Academy brings MJ Hanafin from England for four days of
fabulous training!
For those of you who do not know MJ, get ready for an excellent
class. A Certified Nurse Midwife
homeopath who has delivered more than 6000 babies from Nepal to New Mexico,
her decades of experience provide a wealth of information that she will share with you about
using homeopathy during pregnancy, labor, delivery, lactation issues, post partum depression, and
working with the mother-infant nursing couple.
MJ graduated from the Dynamis School of Advanced Homeopathy in
London, and has taught at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital and National Center for Homeopathy
programs as well as classes for Pacific Academy and many other midwifery programs. MJ is an approved
continuing education provider, so this class will provide continuing education credits. Her teaching style is
dynamic and practical with great detail, supporting materials and so much wisdom - put it on your calendar
now! This class is divided into two sections:
PART ONE: February 18 - 19, Thursday - Friday
USING HOMEOPATHY IN LABOR, DELIVERY, AND POSTPARTUM
These
2 days of class are targeted for midwives and doulas with obstetrical
training, and will review case examples and protocols to teach you how to use
homeopathy during labor, delivery and immediate postpartum conditions. Some general familiarity with concepts
of homeopathy is helpful, but participants do not need to have any formal prior
training in homeopathy.
Course
content
will include a 2 hour introduction to homeopathy, and the use of
homeopathy in prenatal care; pre-term labor (often related to urinary
tract
infection issues); beta-strep in clients; interpartum/postpartum
indications;
neonatal distress / asphyxia; and the start of breast feeding.
Attendees will learn specifics of indications for use of various homeopathic
remedies, along with dosage recommendations, methods of administration and
repetition. There will be plenty
of time for questions and answers, so midwives and doulas will be welcome to
inquire about specific scenarios of interest to them based on what they are
seeing in their practice.
All
homeopathic students and practitioners are welcome to enroll and attend this
section of the class, regardless of
background training; those without obstetrical training will be asked to
hold their questions until break times when they can have a Q&A session with a midwife to discuss any points
that need clarification.
PART TWO: February 20 - 21, Saturday - Sunday
USING HOMEOPATHY FOR THE CHILDBIRTHING YEAR
These
next 2 days of class are targeted for homeopaths and midwives, doulas or other
integrative medicine practitioners with additional training who use homeopathy
in their practices. A working knowledge of homeopathy equivalent to 50 hours of
training is expected. This class will review case examples and protocols to teach
how to use homeopathy for conditions that arise with pregnant women and
newborns during the child birthing year.
Course
content will include the use of homeopathy in care during pregnancy: prenatal
care / turning breech babies / inducing labor in overdue babies /
pre-eclampsia; beta-strep in clients; lactation and mastitis; postpartum depression; interplay
between constitutional and lesional/acute care; managing cases of nursing
couples indications
Attendees will learn specifics of indications for use of various homeopathic
remedies, along with dosage recommendations, methods of administration and
repetition. There will be plenty
of time for questions and answers, so attendees will be welcome to inquire
about specific scenarios of interest to them based on their practice.
All
midwifery and homeopathic students and practitioners are welcome to enroll and
attend this section of the class, regardless of background training; those
without homeopathic training will be asked to hold their questions until break
times when they can have a Q&A
session with a homeopath to discuss any points that need clarification.
These are going to be excellent classes. MJ has not taught on the
west coast in the US for several years, and this is an opportunity not to be
missed!
We expect this class to fill quickly: reserve your place now!

Clients with Lack of Individuation
Tim Shannon, ND, CCH
Location: CPMC Pacific Heights Campus - Cafeteria Level Classroom
A
|
Those who attended Tim's class on pediatric behavior disorders in
December learned much about the Solanaceae family of remedies in this group of clients, and
enjoyed Tim's humorous and practical teaching style. He
returns in March for this weekend class on the psychological issues that
surround individuation and creation of self.
This is a core developmental task for every person, and so many of our
clients are stuck somewhere in this process.
Learn how to recognize the ways
in which clients show us their lack of individuation through an understanding of basic
developmental psychology. Through casework, explore the materia medica most applicable for these clients. This is a
class that will help every student and family practice practitioner.
Plan now to join us for this event!

Pediatric Asthma: Understanding the condition and using homeopathy to relieve it Ifeoma Ikenze, MD, CCH
Location: CPMC Pacific Heights Campus - Cafeteria Level Classroom A

The nagging cough of a child that does not go away can be the
early indicator of asthma. Ifeoma Ikenze, MD will be teaching a full day of
information about children and asthma, giving you a clear understanding about
what is common and uncommon with this complaint, remedies and posology
strategies that are most often used, and excellent information about
lac-felinum as a leading remedy in pediatric asthma. For those of you who missed the excellent shorter
presentation Ifeoma gave on this topic at the NCH conference last March, you
have a second chance. She has agreed to expand the material to a full day, and
we are fortunate to have her. Mark it onto your calendar so you can work
effectively with these clients.
